The trial for the murder of the tax collector Dora Zemberi has started in the Court of Appeals: The family requests a new investigation – “She was killed for a case of her work”, says her father

In the absence of Manolis Soropidis, sentenced in the first instance to two life sentences, the trial for the savage murder of 32-year-old tax collector Dora Zemberiin October 2017 in the NW cemetery of Athens, where the victim had gone to the grave of her friend.

They testified in court the mother and siblings of the 32-year-old who dispute that the motive for the murderwith 14 knives, was the robbery of the bag and that the savagery of the perpetrator is related to the resistance put up by the taxman.

According to the relatives of the victim, a thorough investigation should be carried out into the caseas, as they said, they do not believe that the perpetrator made such an attack with the aim of taking the bag to buy drugs. The relatives of the tax officer believe that the reason for the deadly attack should be sought elsewhere, as it is not about “robbery after murder” but murder.

According to the victim’s father, Dora fell victim to a case concerning her work:

“The killer accused a well-known lawyer that he paid him to kill her. What did you do with it? “Bring the real killers here,” he shouted in court, saying his daughter was killed because she had Lagarde list cases in her hands, asking the court to investigate that version.

The mother, sister and brother of the 32-year-old testified in court that Dora had been frightened lately before her murder and had asked to leave the Tax Control Department, a move which, although approved, she did not make due to the good relations that had with her colleagues in that department.

In his testimony, the brother of the 32-year-old, who worked with her at the Tax Office, claimed that the perpetrator could easily watch her, because his house was opposite the bus stop where Dora was going to work. “I do not see this as a robbery, I see it as a murder. He hit her on the back while she was leaving. How do you see this? Death was not instantaneous, it was found 100 meters below. He did it himself, but I do not think he did it for 25 euros. Dora’s appearance does not presuppose much money. “Inside the cemetery there were easier targets, such as grandmothers who may have a gold medal or a pension,” he stressed.

In his own deposition The head of the tax office, at the Piraeus Tax Office, stated that most of the cases handled by the 32-year-old were simple, while in the few difficult cases he was by her side and helped her.

“I was threatened for cases, my auditors were not,” the witness said.

The testimonies of two more colleagues of the 32-year-old were similar, who said that Dora did not handle “serious” cases regardless of the amounts involved.

The medical examiner Sotiris Bouzianis testified in court that The blows received by the woman were focused on the chest and heart, which indicates a murderous intention.

A neighbor and friend of Dora Zemberi’s mother testified that she had seen Soropidis driving on the street of the victim’s house “in a black BMW”. As he mentioned:

“When I saw him I remembered the face. “Two strange guys were circulating, 20 days earlier, on the street and I remember telling my husband that they are here every day.”
