Archbishop Jerome met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was received in the afternoon at the Holy Archdiocese of Athens by the Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece, Jerome.

“We are happy every time we see you, because you are a model for us in many issues, both difficult and small, but mainly in matters within the church that you handle in an excellent way,” said the Archbishop during the reception of the Primate of Orthodoxy, while at the same time he expressed his joy for their meeting.

The Ecumenical Patriarch, for his part, thanked for the cordial and fraternal welcome and expressed his pleasure for the visit in such a short time. In fact, he conveyed the blessing and affection of the Mother Church of Constantinople, as well as the wishes of all for the namesakes of the Archbishop.

He also expressed his regret that they failed to cooperate in Michaniona at the beginning of June, as planned, but also for the early departure of the blessed Father Adamantios Augustidis, whom, as he mentioned, he knew for many years and was a great clergyman and very educated.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Bishop Oreon Filotheos, the First Council of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite Barnabas Theocharis, Directors of Services of the Archdiocese and the Holy Synod and associates.

Tomorrow at 19:00, the ceremony of announcing the Ecumenical Patriarch as an honorary professor of the Hellenic Open University is expected to take place at the Zappeion Palace.

On Saturday, June 18, at 13.00, Archbishop Ieronymos and the members of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, will host a dinner in honor of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the hotel “Great Britain”.
