Giannakos: The situation in the hospitals is desperate – 13 intubated outside the ICU at AHEPA

by

The pressure exerted by the pandemic wave on the health system was described by President of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Employees (POEDIN) Michalis Giannakos, speaking on SKAI TV and the show “Today”.

At AHEPA, which completed its on-call time at 8 on Friday morning, 13 patients are intubated outside the ICU in single wards, while a total of 68 hospital admissions were made. According to Mr. Giannakos, patients are transferred from AHEPA to Gennimatas hospital.

“The situation is really desperate, very difficult,” said the president of POEDIN, adding that the death toll from coronavirus is higher than the death toll of all other diseases that reach hospitals.

For his part President of the Medical Association of Attica George Patoulis, explained that Primary Health Care could play a huge role in order for those who do not need treatment to be monitored at home but also those who eventually need treatment to go to hospitals on time.

He revealed that a contractor has been found to sell 6,000 smartwatches to lonely people through the municipalities. The “smart” watches will constantly measure the temperature, oxygen, tightness and pressure of the users and the data – with their consent, will be promoted a central axis.
