The restaurants were honored today with the first Michelin stars
Eleven Dubai restaurants were honored today with the first Michelin stars awarded in Middle Eastern restaurants as dozens of the city’s restaurants entered the famous French culinary guide.
Driver inspectors spent months visiting restaurants “from the most luxuriously owned world-renowned chefs to the simple bistros run by friendly locals,” said Guenthal Poulenek, Michelin’s manager, during an event at the Dubai Opera House.
“This is a historic moment for Dubai and for the Michelin driver,” he told AFP.

Of the 69 restaurants selected for the first edition of the guide, which is dedicated to Dubai with Italian, Japanese, Arabic, French and Indian cuisine, two received the two prestigious stars that distinguish “an excellent restaurant worth visiting”.
The winners of the two stars are the Italian restaurant Il Ristorante by chef Nico Romito and the STAY of the French chef Yannick Alleno, both located on the artificial palm-shaped islands, the Palm Islands.
Nine other Dubai restaurants won one star, but none won the three stars for “excellent” cuisine.
