A 48-hour heatwave will hit almost the entire territory on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in many areas. In Attica, the mercury will rise to 39 degrees Celsius, while the highest temperatures are expected to be recorded in the region of Thessaly, with forecasts of a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius in the plain. From Friday, however, the scene changes drastically. EMY revised its forecasts, as a cold front with strong winds will bring a “dip” in temperature throughout the country, starting from Macedonia and Thrace.

The forecast for Wednesday is more detailed:

Generally clear weather, with temporary clouds in places on the mainland in the noon and afternoon hours, when in Macedonia and Thrace there will be local showers, while in the mountains of Macedonia it is possible for isolated thunderstorms.
Visibility in the morning to the west will be locally limited.
The winds in the seas will blow west northwest 3 to 5 and locally in the area of ​​Dodecanese 6 beaufort.
