An idea of ​​what mothers face even when it comes to the self-evident right to education was given by lecturer of AUTh Charita Vlachou.

An Instagram post posted a very sweet video with the teacher holding the baby while giving a lesson to her students.

The post was accompanied by the teacher’s text about that day, where in the last lecture of the lesson, did babysitting on 2 month old baby so that his mother can attend class.

It was the beginning of March when the student Christina Gyftaki asked me politely and skeptically if she could attend the Master class “Innovation – Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Tourism Development” holding her 2-month-old daughter in her arms. I accepted immediately and without a second thought because I know very well what it means to want to continue your studies while you are a mother. This particular student came many times for class with her daughter, however in the last lecture, the little one looked upset. I approached the mother in an attempt to relax her and teasingly asked her: “Why does little Zoe disagree with what I say… Explain it to her in person?”. “I spontaneously spread my arms and took the baby in my arms, continuing my analysis on the business canvas… The little one immediately calmed down and for the remaining 1.5 hours of the lesson I held her, she did not make a sound!”

At the same time, he added that “The challenge of teaching two generations at the same time is great… ..but the message is even bigger! Let us support all those who are fighting for an opportunity for education, especially let us support the women and mothers who are struggling to succeed in many different roles! They deserve it!
