Extensive damage was caused, according to the Municipality of Western Achaia, by today’s heavy rain that hit the area, which is why it is requested “to declare the municipality in a state of emergency, so that the registration and compensation mechanisms are activated immediately”.
According to the municipality, “although in cooperation with the Region, all the available equipment and earthmoving machinery in the area had been mobilized, which in fact intervened in many cases, nevertheless the damages remain significant”.
As it was announced, “the damages are recorded in flooded houses and shops, in flooded warehouses, workshops and sheepfolds, while the damages are also significant in the crops”.
The mayor of Western Achaia, Spyros Mylonas, in a statement asks “to proceed immediately with the registration of damages and to advance the necessary procedures for the rapid compensation of the victims” and added:
“It is very difficult at this time to estimate the exact extent of the disasters that occurred today in our municipality. But one thing is for sure. This is a huge damage that occurred in all the activities in our municipality “.
