Masks, surgical gloves, antiseptics and other items that are widely used during the pandemic do not return to high VAT from July 1.
Given that the coronavirus is re-emerging and masks remain mandatory in some indoor areas, Adonis Georgiades announced speaking to ANT1 that the VAT increase will not take place for at least another six months.
According to what the Minister of Development and Investment said, an amendment is being promoted, which will come tomorrow, Tuesday in the Parliament, which will provide that the VAT will remain as it is at 6%.
In the last few days there have been reactions as it had become known that masks and antiseptics are included in the list of products for which VAT would increase from July 1 to 24% from the current 6%.
Specifically it would increase to the following goods:
- in protective masks,
- in medical gloves (for virus protection and disease prevention – hospital and private use),
- soap and other personal hygiene products,
- in antiseptic solutions,
- in antiseptic wipes and other antiseptic preparations
- in denatured ethyl alcohol which is intended as a raw material for the production of antiseptics
