Before the 15th of August the results.

The bases of the Panhellenic Examinations will be announced before the 15th of August, according to the general secretary of the Ministry of Education, Alexandros Koptsis.

More specifically, he estimated, speaking to ERT, that by July 20, the candidates have completed their computer programs, so that the bases of the Panhellenic Examinations can be announced before August 15th.

Also, the appointments of the new permanent teachers EEP-EBP will be completed by the beginning of August, he added.

The foundations of the sought-after schools are falling

Lower flights compared to 2021 are expected this year the bases of the sought after schools of Greek universities. On the contrary, the grading of the degree of difficulty of the subjects per subject in the Panhellenic ones will cause, for another year, the phenomenon of “bases of different speeds and signs”both in the schools that move in the middle grades and in the low grades, around the Minimum Admission Base (EBE).

The lowest grade that will provide a candidate with a ticket to universities will be 8.37, from 8.27 last year. These show the first conclusions from the announcement, yesterday, of this year’s candidates.

In particular, half the anxiety of the candidates passed with yesterday’s announcement of the grades in the compulsory courses. 87,159 candidates participated in the exams, of which 72,012 General Lyceums and the 15,138 Vocational Lyceums.

For all categories of candidates for the academic year 2022-23 are available 68,394 places in universities. In these positions will be added the approximately 2,000 in the productive schools (Army, Police, Fire Brigade, Coast Guard, Merchant Navy).

However, it is estimated that, due to EBE, a little more than 60,000 positions will be filled.

A comparison of this year’s performance with that of 2021 shows that the course that the candidates did the worst was Modern Greek Language and Literature of General Education.

In Exhibition Candidates were asked to express their opinion on the value of historical knowledge and to mention experiential ways that can cultivate their interest in the historical past. These are issues (history, memory, dead, anniversaries) that are not particularly familiar to them and this was reflected in the performance, as 17.13% wrote below the base compared to 22.77% last year. On the contrary, there was no differentiation of writing below the base in Mathematics and Biology.

According to the processing of the data made for “K” by the mathematician-analyst Mr. Stratos Stratigakis for the courses per scientific field of the largest category of candidates, from the daily General Lyceums the following emerge:

• 1st field (humanities and social sciences): The average performance of 18,276 candidates in the field is 11.31, slightly higher than 11.17 in 2021. This is reflected in the minimum admission base of the field, which rises to 9, 05 of 8.94. The slight increase of the lower schools is a given, however the opposite is estimated to happen with the bases of the higher schools (law, psychology), as the excellent ones (with a performance over 18) decreased in Ancient, Modern Greek Language – Literature and Latin.

• 2nd field (sciences): The average of 14,200 candidates in the field decreased (11.84 from 11.98 last year) and EBE will reach 9.47 from 9.58. The trend is also declining in the higher education departments (computers, mechanical engineering, etc.), as we have fewer excellent students in Mathematics and Physics.

• 3rd field (health sciences): Slightly lower is the average performance of 13,676 candidates, at 12.03 from 12.12. This will drop the EBE (to 9.62 from 9.7) and the low bases of the field, but rather a little, as the performance above the base in Biology – a critical subject for several departments – increased. The trend of the bases of the sought-after medical schools is expected to be at the same levels as last year or slightly declining, since we had a decrease in excellent writing in Physics and Biology, a large increase in Chemistry and a smaller increase in Language.

• 4th field (economy – IT): The average performance of the 25,116 candidates in the field increased from 10.34 to 10.46 and therefore the EBE will improve from 8.27 to 8.37. This will lead to an increase in lower schools. On the other hand, the high schools (computer science and economics) will be declining, since we had a decrease in the performance in the high grades and the four courses in the field.
