This is a tragic story. According to the “Mirror”, a father in Virginia committed suicide when he found out that he accidentally left his 18-month-old boy to die in the back seat of a car on Tuesday, June 28, according to the police.
The father was out with his son when this tragic event happened and after finding the lifeless body of the child in the car, he ran back to his home in Chesterfield County and took the boy into their home.
Shortly after the father arrived at the house, the police received a call that the man had suicidal tendencies. On the way home, police received a second phone call from a family member, who said the boy’s father told them he had left his son in the car for three hours and that the baby may have been dead.
When the police arrived at the house, they found it car on the street with the back door still open and the child seat empty. They found the infant dead inside the house, police said.
Neither the identity of the father nor the young child has been made public.
«This is a tragedy and we wholeheartedly support the family. However, it would be an omission not to seize the opportunity and say once again how important it is for people to control their vehicles.Said police officer Chris Hensley.
Police said they remained in contact with the dead child’s mother and other family members as they continued the investigation.
The 18-month-old is the seventh child to die from being “forgotten” in a car and the 914th since 1998, according to the noheatstroke website, which records such deaths.
