One of the main brewing events in the country, IPA Day did not escape the pandemic and was left out of the calendar for two years. The 2022 edition is already guaranteed, but the festival asked consumers for help to hold the 2023 party and created crowdfunding, called crowdfunding, in Catarse.
To celebrate the meeting aimed at hops, Ambev announces that it will double the amount raised by the financing, to the delight of the group that is a fan of bitters.
“We recognize how important the return of this type of event is for our sector and, therefore, we joined our brands to support and strengthen this year’s edition”, commented Sybilla Geraldi, coordinator of Ambev’s beer culture and knowledge unit. —the company will participate in the event with two brands from its portfolio, Colorado, from Ribeirão Preto, and Goose Island, from Chicago, both recognized for good versions of india pale ale. “One helps the other and so we foster our market, especially at this time of recovery.”
The first crowdfunding fundraising goal is BRL 40,000, to settle “the damage caused by the pandemic, with the bankruptcy of suppliers already paid in 2020 and the difference in the cost for holding the events between 2020 and 2022”, says the text. in Catharsis.
So far, the event has raised just over R$3,000. To support the project with values from R$ 19, it is necessary to enter the site catarse.me/IPAdaybrasil.
As the name suggests, IPA Day is a one-day event dedicated to india pale ales. The party was born in the United States, land of IPAs, in 2011, and is celebrated there on the first Thursday of August.
Brazil imported the meeting the following year, in 2012, first in Ribeirão Preto, but there is also a São Paulo version. In ten years, the organization of the party says that it has already received more than 270 IPA labels and their variations from one hundred Brazilian breweries.
“IPA Day had its origins in Ribeirão Preto, as well as Colorado. From the beginning we have always been partners in this very important and celebrated initiative by craft beer lovers, which in addition to promoting Brazilian beer culture, highlights a style of beer so important for this market”, recalls Rudson Ferdinando, Colorado marketing manager. “We are even going to take the opportunity to present for the first time a new draft beer produced with Brazilian hops”, he adds.
