Fokida-Argolida: Fire Department Update – Areas at risk tomorrow

Battle to tame the fire fronts raging in Fokida and Argolis is given by the Fire Department

The fire department is fighting the flames in order to tame the fiery fronts raging in Phocis and Argolis.

The fire that broke out today at noon, in a rural area in the Sernikaki area of ​​Fokida, is ongoing and 140 firefighters are working, with 4 groups of infantry departments, 43 vehicles and the mobile operational center “OLYMPOS”.

For aerial fire fighting, 11 A/F and 7 E/P operate, of which 2 E/P have been allocated by the Greek Army and 1 E/P for aerial coordination. Assistance is provided by volunteer firefighters, water carriers and OTA project machinery, as well as forces of the Hellenic Police.

By order of the Chief of the PS, an echelon of the D.A.E.E. is in the area of ​​the fire to investigate its causes.

The personnel of the Fire Services of the Region of Central Greece have been placed on General Alert.

Regarding the fire that occurred this afternoon, in a forest area in the Korakia area of ​​Kranidi Argolida, it is also ongoing and 63 firefighters are working, with 3 groups of pedestrian sections, 18 vehicles, 1 A/F and 2 E/P.

At the same time, water-bearing municipalities are supported.

It is recalled that, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map, issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, for tomorrow, Tuesday 05 July 2022, a very high risk of fire is predicted, with risk category 4 in:

Region of Attica (including the island of Kythira)
North Aegean Region (Lesvos Region, Chios Region, Samos Region, Ikaria Region)
Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Evia)
Peloponnese Region (Corinthia Region, Argolis Region, Laconia Region)
Region of Western Greece (Ilia, Achaia)
An appeal is addressed to our fellow citizens:

1. Be especially careful and avoid any activity that could cause a fire.

2. To monitor forest fire prevention information available on the website and official accounts of the Fire Department, Facebook and Twitter.

3. In the event that they notice a fire, they should immediately notify the Fire Service by dialing 199.
