Golden Dawn: No from the Court of Appeal to the request of Lagou and three others for release from prison

“No” to requests for suspension of execution of the sentence of the MEP John Lagou and three others convicted for the activity of the criminal organization Golden Dawn said his judges Five-member Court of Criminal Appeals.

On hearing the decision of the judges, Yiannis Lagos began to applaud in a vociferous mood. In addition to Lagos, requests to be released from prison were submitted by the leader of Perama Anastasios Pantazis, Elpidophoros Kalarytis and George Stampelos citing irreparable harm from their stay in prison. The Prosecutor was also in favor of rejecting the requests.

Earlier, the lawyers of the MEP Ioannis Lagos appealed against the suspension request submitted by their client, while the defendant himself took the floor and today, when his name was called, he stated “political prisoner”.

One of his advocates, Konstantinos Pleurishe told the court that “when Lagos says that he is a political prisoner, he is telling the truth because in the court of first instance they were talking about fascism. In other words, they were judged for their ideas.” The advocate repeated the allegations he made during the first trial, regarding the politicization of the case due to statements by state and political actors.

Yannis Lagos told the court that he considers that he has been wronged and that he has been wronged for 9 years, while he emphasized that he has been imprisoned for a total of 3 years, “completely unfairly”. As said by the person sentenced to 13 years and 8 months in prison.

“There was a decision that was a product of eof fools. In a voluminous file there is not a single act attributed to me. There are only my speeches. The indictment says I’m a fascist. Not a criminal, a fascist,” he said, among other things. Magda Fyssa answered him in the last sentence: “you are a murderer”.
