Aegio: He played the insurance man who takes pictures of jewels and steals them

A 48-year-old man is accused of numerous crimes in Holy who, among other things, went to old people’s homes and pretending to be their children’s insurer and messenger, he photographed jewelry and valuables, in order to appreciate them and after all he was stealing them.

Specifically, six frauds and three attempted frauds against citizens in Aigio, Patra and Corinthia were investigated by the police officers of the Aegialia Security Department.

Accused for all these cases is a 48-year-old man, who is already locked up in a detention center, for similar cases.

In particular, according to the police, after the investigations by the police officers of the Aegialia Security Department, it was established that the defendant, from September 16, 2020 to April 4, 2021, committed six frauds and three attempts, obtaining an illegal financial benefit of up to 24,000 euros, while he had attempted to withdraw another 12,000 euros.

Regarding the methodology followed by the defendant, according to the police, he went to the homes of the elderly and, pretending to be the insurer and messenger of their children, photographed jewelry and valuables in order to value them and then removed them using the method of employment.

In other cases, the accused, pretending to be a doctor, contacted his victims by phone and, under the pretext of treating their children or close relatives, asked them for money to buy medicines or machines related to their hospitalization.

So when the 48-year-old’s victims were convinced by his claims, one of his still unknown accomplices would go to the victims’ homes in order to collect the money.

The case filed against the 48-year-old will be submitted to the First Instance Prosecutor of Aigio.
