We are very happy and satisfiedsaid Mr. Kikilias, pointing out that “although it is a very difficult year – with the pandemic still here, with the global energy crisis and the war in Ukraine – we see travelers from Europe, the United States of America, Canada, Australia, Israel, from all over the world, to come to Greece with their families”.

After two years of a tough pandemic, we are happy to have our visitors and a regular season,” stated the Babis Voulgarishotelier in Corfu. “Occupancy is already high in our hotels and we are optimistic for the rest of the summer as well”he said.

On his part, Mr Michalis Minadakisgeneral manager of a luxury resort outside Athens, said energy inflation is reaching “unbelievable” levels, but demand for travel was high and bookings for this year had started as early as last Christmas. “Overall, I think 2022 will be even better than 2019,” he said characteristically.

According to the report, tourism is estimated to bring 80% of the 2019 revenue to the Greek economy this year which was a record year in the country in terms of travel receipts.
