Halkidiki: Ivan was held by a ball for 19 hours

A ball he found in front of him completely by chance while sailing in the raging sea off Poseidon, Halkidiki, saved the life of 30-year-old Ivan from North Macedonia who dived with his group at Mytis beach, however the extremely strong sea currents in the area pulled them media, reports his report voria.gr.

As a result, the 30-year-old was found wandering in the sea, heading southwest towards the beaches of Larissa and Pelion, while his 28-year-old friend is still missing. More fortunate was to be the third member of the group, the 25-year-old who was rescued a few minutes after being swept away by the wave.

For the group of three young men from the neighboring country it all started when they chose the Chalcidice for their short vacation, also celebrating one’s birthday. They chose yesterday, despite the adverse conditions, to go to the sandbar of Potidea, the famous – but also dangerous – Mytis.

When the 28-year-old and 25-year-old dived into the water, Ivan realized something was wrong. Seeing that his friends were in danger, the 30-year-old made the decision to enter the water to help them. But the strong sea currents – which prevent even the locals from swimming there – carried him away as well, with the result that he found himself in the same difficult position as the others.

So he found himself wandering helpless in the water for 19 hours, fighting the waves, fighting for his life. And his own Wilson, the ball that by chance – as if by a miracle – appeared in front of him, kept him company and gave him the chance to stay alive until today at noon, when the authorities located him, happy to find that he had left behind this incredible adventure. Stepping his feet back onto land. An adventure that will surely be recounted throughout his life.
