Halkidiki: The search for the third missing person continues

With the first light of day, the search for the 28-year-old from North Macedonia, who has been missing since Saturday afternoon in Halkidiki, continues.

In the investigations, which are carried out under the coordination of the Unified Center for Coordination, Search and Rescue, two patrol boats of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, seven ships sailing by sea and an air force helicopter of the Air Force are participating.

Investigations are also being carried out on land in the area around Poseidi by a patrol vehicle of the Coast Guard and on foot units of the Hellenic Rescue Team. Volunteer rescuers from OFKAT are also participating in the operation.

The two friends of the 28-year-oldwith whom he dived into the sea, before all of them were swept away by the currents, they managed to be saved, with the first being the 25-year-old Vasil, who was picked up by a Coast Guard boat shortly after the alarm was raised to locate them.

Yesterday he was found 30-year-old Ivan, who fought the waves for 19 hours. The young man was found 14 miles from Nea Skioni by helicopter and was picked up by a cargo ship participating in the investigations.

The 30-year-old Ivan, who was first taken to the Kassandra Health Center and then to the Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki, reported that when they went swimming the sea was calm and within two minutes everything changed, strong winds started blowing and waves rising.
