The unbelievable incident with a woman asking for 3.5 thousand euros from a relative of a patient with coronavirus at the Agios Pavlos hospital in Thessaloniki under the pretext of mediating his intubation, confirmed the commander of the hospital Odysseas Katsakas.
According to the commander, the complaint was made on Wednesday by a police officer from Rhodes, whose father-in-law was intubated outside the ICU.
He typically stated that a woman called his wife and told her the following: “I am a health professional, I know a lot and I am very good. “If I do not intervene to intubate your father, he will die. Give me this money and I will displace him.” In fact, the amount requested by the woman amounts to 3.5 thousand euros, the commander stressed.
He pointed out that this woman does not work in the hospital and does not know her.
Mr. Katsakas explained that in any case, the protocols for admission to the ICU are strictly observed and order of priority is observed. “One cannot enter the list of patients and have access to personal data,” he added.
It is noted that the case has come under the microscope of the Thessaloniki Court of First Instance and legal proceedings have already begun.
