The region of Peloponnese, as highlighted in a relevant announcement, is organizing a series of activities centered on an emblematic location per regional unit that will act as a hub (Lakonia, Messinia, Argolis, Corinthia, Arcadia), aspiring to offer a unique culinary experience.
The first event will take place in Areopolis of Laconia, on Sunday July 17 in collaboration with the Chamber of Laconia, the Association of Hoteliers of Laconia, the Municipality of Eastern Mani and the Tourism Organization of Peloponnese. The aim of the actions is to highlight and promote the culinary richness of each region and the position that these destinations occupy over time on the culinary map of Greece.
Through this methodology, an experiential journey through time and place will be woven, through lectures and presentations by creators and artisans of traditional and contemporary local culture.
In particular, the participants will have the opportunity to attend cooking and preparation courses of local recipes that will be consumed on site, evenings of tasting and wine tasting with local chef guides as well as musical events, visits and excursions to local producers, activities for well-being, shopping and exhibitions of local and organic products and of course treats and unexpected surprises.
Specifically, the purpose of the events is: The promotion of the culinary content of the destination with an emphasis on traditional ingredients, traditional recipes and their modern versions. Highlighting the built environment of areas with cultural value and its connection with gastronomy. The education of the public about local gastronomy, the “installation” of a commercial communication channel between producers and visitors and, at the same time, the involvement of the local community in the implementation.
