Electrification continued to register an upward trend for another month

Greek drivers are once again turning to hybrids, as one in three cars that hit Greek roads last month had hybrid technology. They saw an increase 11.7% compared to last year’s corresponding period, capturing 32.1% of the total market share, while in the first half of the year the total share of hybrid cars reached 28.3%. This percentage is higher than the average of the EU which is at 25.1%.

On the other hand, electrification continued for another month to register an upward trend. Sales of electric cars also increased (+7.2%), despite the many problems that exist and have to do with charging infrastructure, prices and lack of information among citizens.

Dual-fuel models also know the “dance” of the rise, as those with LPG occupied 2.6% of the total volume, recording an increase of 0.8% compared to the corresponding period last year.

On the contrary, sales of gasoline-powered vehicles were down. The overall drop was 9.2% compared to last June, recording total sales of 47%. But where there was quite a large drop was in diesel vehicles which now occupy 10.7% of total sales. Market analysts report that these sales come mainly from companies and from people who drive many kilometers every day.

However, the favorite category of the Greeks remained “B”. About one in two vehicles fall into this category (44.2%), with SUVs accounting for 22%. The next favorite category is “C” with 31.8% of total sales and SUVs occupying 21.6%, while on the third step of the podium rises the “A” category with a total market share of 14.8%.
