The beginning of the training program for 2,500 men and women of the DI.AS team. The Minister of Civil Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, announced today in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Michael Karamalakis. The courses were announced by Mr. Theodorikakos together with a series of measures, after the incident in Perama and the educational program includes theoretical and practical courses with the participation of representatives of Justice, university and high-ranking officers of the Hellenic Police.

After his short greeting, the minister referred to the important role that the DI.AS team has in tackling crime, while also pointing out its social mission.

“As we had announced, as we had promised, the retraining of all our police officers begins today. We start with the 2,500 men and women of the DIAS team, who are the spearhead of the Immediate Action and will go through the retraining school completed from now until July in their entirety “, said the Minister of Citizen Protection and added: “The courses are both theoretical and practical and our goal is for our police officers to know the laws governing police action, to be fully informed about the Penal Code and at the same time to have full knowledge of the rights of citizens. and techniques of better communication with all of them, but also with individual social groups. “Certainly they will be trained to be even better and more effective in their police duties, in the use of weapons, in the techniques of their action, in the application of the operating regulations of the Immediate Action”.

As Mr. Theodorikakos noted, “Our police officers do a very hard and complex job for the benefit of society, they work for the protection and safety of citizens. Recently, we have strengthened with 1,000 police officers the Police Departments in the Attica basin and with 100 night patrols, which contribute to the fight against crime. At the same time, we are working to equip our police officers with better infrastructure, with better supplies so that they too can do their job more safely. “

In closing, he expressed his confidence in the results of this program: “I am sure that this training will have very positive results and will contribute to the realization of our vision and plan, which is nothing more than a modern, humane police force. , effective, friendly, towards citizens, friendly towards young people and at the same time tough, relentless and effective against crime “.
