“We are unable to find a similar incident, in addition to the ten-year sentence, which has been suspended. It’s that simple,” the union’s announcement states.
A notice issued by Union of Greek Actors after the decision on his release from prison Dimitris Lignadis with payment of a guarantee. As reported, the members of the union are angry and disappointed by this decision, while declaring that they will stand by the victims.
In fact, today at 7 pm they will gather at the Constitution to protest.
Full announcement:
We are alive and present in a crime.
In a crime that proves that power, money, PR and powerful friends are above Justice.
Justice is selective, biased and protects the powerful of this land, spreading fear with its decision to them and those who had the courage to speak, but also to all of us.
We are deeply angry, disappointed and frightened by yesterday’s decision of the MOD to suspend the imprisonment of the first-trial culprit for 2 rapes of minors, Dimitris Lignadis.
We are injured.
We cannot fathom how it is possible for someone who was remanded in custody, because there were indications of serial rape, to be released when it is now PROVEN to have committed two rapes.
We are unable to find a similar incident, in addition to the ten-year sentence, which has been suspended. Just like that.
We fail to understand how the “dangerous” man according to Mendonis, who “deceived her with his acting skills” is evaluated by President Panagiota Ioupi as not dangerous for committing a new crime until the appeal!
And how, now, this man will move FREE among us, next to his former victims and unprotected and objectively impossible to be informed about the case of minors from other countries.
We do not forget, however, that this obvious infringement not only of the public’s sense of justice in society, but of the institution of Justice itself, is a continuation of a series of decisions that stretch the laws only where it is beneficial: to the murderers of Jacques, E. Korkoneas , P. Filippidis. Does it continue with the appeals of the Golden Dawn?
But we are not afraid.
Although, temporarily we bend, seeing the injustice trampling us, we take courage and find the bottom line:
Dimitris Lignadis is initially guilty of 2 rapes of minors.
He, the former artistic director of the National Theatre, a professor at Arsakeio and the drama school of the National Theatre, whose councils of ministers attended his performances and the Prime Minister took helicopters from Antiparos to attend his premiere, was condemned for his heinous behavior in more tender members of our society.
And not because a plot, a political conspiracy, a self-motivated revenge was set up: the whole line of defense, as well as his claims, collapsed solemnly.
We take courage, therefore, because no matter how much we have suffered, we know that we did the right thing. From the beginning we stood by the victims, exhausted all the means we had and invited everyone, everyone and everything to speak and not to be afraid.
So we will continue to do the same.
No matter how coordinated the ostensibly distinct powers are doing to stem the tide of metoo, now that they understand it’s hitting their own kids, we’ll continue to call for collective action and named whistleblowing.
The release of Dimitris Lignadis is the strongest proof that we no longer live in a state of law. It is the proof of the revenge of the rotten bourgeois power that the government represents against anyone who dares to denounce the crimes of its own children. At the same time that he lets Yiannis Michaelidis die a slow death after 52 days of hunger strike for exactly the same vindictive reasons, clearly dividing citizens into first and second class.
You will not silence us, you will not bend us, you will find us where we have always been. Against your rotten authority, along with the victims, along with the weak, along with what real Justice and Democracy dictates!
We owe it to ourselves, but above all to Nikos S., A., P., S., B. and the witnesses in the trial, who in practice were not afraid and SPOKE LOUDLY, as the prosecutor said in his admonition.
For them we will be at Syntagma at 7 pm!
