The Japan Festival starts tomorrow, the 15th, and continues until Sunday, the 17th, at the SP Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, located on Rodovia dos Imigrantes, km 1.5. The event will offer musical shows, typical dances, exhibitions, martial arts, cosplay, workshops for all ages, ikebana, tea ceremony and lots of gastronomy.
Traditional regional cuisine from Japan’s 47 prefectures will be offered at Praça de Gastronomia, in 44 stands that will present family recipes, some little known to the general public. It will also be possible to taste wagyu for free, in demonstrations and lectures at Jetro’s stand, which will bring a specialist from Japan to present the product, and also learn a little more about Japanese rice, another theme of the organization for this event.

On the 28th of July, a Thursday, the event “One Night for Diversity” will take place, the second meeting of the series of benefit dinners in favor of the NGO Casa Chama. Chef Bel Coelho sponsors the project along with Eataly, and will welcome chefs José Barattino, Paola Carosella and Aline Guedes to create a five-course menu that will be paired with Italian wines. All proceeds will go to the organization. Dinner starts at 7pm and tickets, which cost R$485, can be purchased here.
The 10th edition of the Gastronomic Arraial of the Buscapé Project, which serves more than 170 children from the north coast of São Paulo, will take place from the 29th to the 31st of July in Camburi. Chefs Pier Paolo Picchi, Luiz Filipe Souza, Tássia Magalhães, Paulo Yoller, Carol Fiorentino, Lucas Corazza, among others, participate. Also present will be the houses La Guapa by Paola Carosella, Hot Pork by Jefferson and Janaína Rueda and Camélia Ododo by Bela Gil. The delicacies will be sold at prices between R$5 and R$20. Until tomorrow, the 15th, the Le Jazz brasserie will be donating 50% of the sale value of its famous Cassoulet (R$72), the French stew prepared with white beans, duck confit, sausage and carrots, to two charities. One of them is the Making History Institute, which supports children and young people separated from their families and the other is Casa Chama, which welcomes the transvestite population.
