The northerly winds in the area of ​​the fire strengthened significantly since the early hours of the morning

Regarding the forest fire that occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday 19.07.2022 in the Dau Penteli area and is ongoing until the morning of Wednesday 20.07.2022, the FLAME pyrometeorological team of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA) / meteo.gr informs:

Based on the network of automatic meteorological stations of EAA / meteo.gr, but also as it was pointed out in a previous announcement, the northerly winds in the area of ​​the fire strengthened significantly from the early morning hours (02:30/03:00) of Wednesday 20.07. 2022, blowing until now (20.07.2022, 07:00) with average intensities reaching 7 Beaufort and gusts exceeding 90-100 km/h.

From the records of the automatic meteorological station of the EAA / meteo.gr in Pallini, it appears that the temperature rose sharply by 15 degrees Celsius when the front of the fire was approaching the area.

In particular, the temperature between 04:40 and 05:10 (20.07.2022), i.e. within 30 minutes, rose from 23 to 38 degrees Celsius.
