He was the father of the journalist Phoebus Karzis and the nephew of the director Linos Karzis

He died Theodoros Karzis, journalist, writer and historian with a rich written work. He was the director general of the Athens News Agency from 1987 to 1989 and under his administration the “Language Guide for Journalists”, a tool for the correct use of the Greek language, was written and published. For his work, he was honored by APE-MPE in March 2018.

He was a political columnist for a number of years and in his extremely rich career he was the director of News, International Relations and Educational Television of ERT, a member of the board of directors of ERT, the National Council of Radio and Television (ESR) and the Educational Foundation of ESIEA.

As director of educational television and international relations of ERT, he represented Greece for a number of years in the international organizations Université Radiophonique et Télévision Scolaire in Belgium and the Center Mediterraneen de la Communication Audiovisuelle in France, of which he was also president.

In his writing work, he dealt with the history of Hellenism, language studies, while he also immersed himself in the culture of China. He had written more than 30 books, which received warm reviews and some honors, such as the five-volume “History of Woman” which received the Prize of the Academy of Athens, “The Homelands of the Greeks” which received the prize of the Union of Smyrna and the Great Parchment of Hestia Nea Smyrnis, and “The Epic of Language” which received the Botsi Foundation Award. In addition, he had been vice president of the Hellenic Red Cross.

He was the father of the journalist Phoebus Karzis and the nephew of the director Linos Karzis.
