Lawyer of pregnant woman who lost her child because the on-call was over: “Criminal negligence”

“If a maid goes to the hospital you won’t put her in even if you’re not even on duty?” asked Charalambos Apostolidis.

Criminal negligence to the managers of the Hippocrates Hospital of Thessaloniki, but also to the managers of the Papageorgiou hospital, the lawyer of the 30-year-old pregnant woman who lost her child because she was on call ended.

“The woman had to undergo an emergency caesarean section at both hospitals. I exclude the doctors and the director of the ICU in Papageorgiou,” he stressed.

As Charalambos Apostolidis reported, the woman was taken to the on-call Hippocrate hospital in Thessaloniki, with severe spasms, pains and bleeding in her 39th week of pregnancy.

As the lawyer stated based on the lawsuit filed, the woman underwent a cardiotocogram in which the pains of the uterus are erased with black tape.

All the necessary tests were done on the woman about to give birth, however, as the couple claims, the doctor asked them to go to “Papageorgiou” because the on-call ended at 8:00. “And while everyone sees the problem, they find bleeding and say, excuse us, our duty is over, leave and go somewhere else,” he said characteristically.

“If they operated on her by caesarean section the family would have a third child… Instead of taking her to Papageorgiou by ambulance in order not to suffer a half-hour delay, they loaded her into her husband’s car without accompanying documents and there we had new delays, they put her in a COVID clinic, then in the gynecology clinic, and at 10.30 she had a caesarean section… The child was intubated , enters the ICU and was not saved despite the diligent efforts of the doctors and he could not be saved as they said,” he noted.

“If a maid goes to the hospital you won’t put her in even if you’re not even on duty?” asked Charalambos Apostolidis.

He also stated that the woman suffered a uterine rupture and placental abruption. “He had to undergo a caesarean section immediately at both hospitals… I exclude the doctors and the director of Papageorgiou’s ICU,” he said.
