Mitsotakis Intervention in Tourism for All: Beneficiaries double to 400,000

by

August 1st is the official start of the program – Results are expected to be posted by the end of next week.

Following the intervention of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Tourism for All program is being expanded. From 200,000 beneficiaries will double to 400,000.

Yesterday at 23:59 the platform for submitting applications to Tourism for All closed, while the program officially starts on August 1st. Therefore, the results are expected to be released by the end of next week.

The subsidy of 150 euros or 200 euros for the disabled for the holidays concerns 200,000 beneficiaries. It is pointed out that the applications are not prioritized in time, while the final beneficiaries of the program will be selected by electronic lottery among the beneficiaries who have submitted an application.

It is recalled that with the new “Tourism for All” each beneficiary is provided with an immaterial, digital, prepaid card, on which the amount of the subsidy has been credited and which they can use for their stay in any hotel or accommodation of their choice in the country.

The application is successfully submitted if the beneficiaries meet the following income criteria:

When results and payments

Upon completion of the deadline for submission of applications for participation, the beneficiaries are classified in a temporary table, which includes: the code number of their application for participation and the last four digits of their VAT number.

THE definitive list of beneficiaries for whom the digital debit card will be issued is formed by electronic lottery among the applications of the provisional table.

For each beneficiary of the program, the immaterial digital debit card will be issued with expiry date 30/06/2023 and for the amount of 150 euros, while for disabled beneficiaries as well as beneficiaries with disabled children the amount of the financial support will amount to 200 euros.

Beneficiaries will be able to make use of the checks and vouchers they will have in their hands from August 1st, when the program officially begins, and take advantage of them by redeeming the period they will plan their vacations.

After the completion of the draw and the publication of the Final List of Beneficiaries, the Implementation Agency transmits exclusively and solely for the purposes of this to the credit institution or financial organization, observing the appropriate technical and organizational measures, the data of the beneficiary and in particular the name, the surname, e-mail address, mobile phone number, and the amount of the facility, information which is necessary for the issuance of the immaterial digital debit card.

The credit institution or financial organization will distribute, exclusively electronically, the immaterial digital debit cards within two working days of receiving the relevant file, without entering into a customer relationship with each beneficiary. Finally, it is stipulated that the participation of the credit institution or financial organization in the above procedure will be carried out based on the terms and conditions set in the Register of Collaborating Licensed Payment Service Providers, established by the Implementing Agency.

The credit institution or financial institution then informs the beneficiary of the procedure to be followed to activate the card and credit the amount of money, by sending:

  • text message (sms) to the mobile phone number that the beneficiary has registered in the special application, with integrated instructions for activating the digital debit card and
  • e-mail message (e-mail) to the e-mail address specified by the beneficiary in the special application with an embedded link to activate the immaterial digital debit card. After entering the above link, the beneficiary creates a personal access code (password) and receives a confirmation code, with a new text message (sms), in order to activate the digital debit card.

It is recalled that the program only concerns the coverage of tourist accommodation and accommodation and not cruises or catering as despite the relevant intention and effort of the Ministry of Tourism, it was not possible for tourist offices to be included in the providers in this phase of the program, due to issues of state aid and of EU law, which already in the earlier version of the program had created significant issues of redemption and payment both to the beneficiaries and to the offices themselves.
