Yesterday ELAS proceeded to arrest 21 people for various crimes as part of police operations in areas of Chania and Heraklion.
As announced by Gsingle Police Directorate of Crete operations covered the entire range of police powers and included checks on people, cars and premises, as well as confirmation of violations and arrests – confiscations.
Specifically regarding the results:
A total of 570 people and 341 vehicles were checked and 50 violations of the Road Traffic Code were confirmed. According to the announcement, 21 people were arrested, including 7 for driving license suspension, 6 for street trading, 2 for soliciting customers, 2 for drug law violations and one person for suspension of health certificate.
In addition, a metal propellant device (aerator) with nitrous oxide, ninety empty-new balloons (bubbles), a small amount of cannabis, industrial products, fruit-food were confiscated.
Similar operational actions, which have as their main characteristics the increased police presence and the implementation of targeted controls, will continue in all regions of the Region of Crete.
At the same time, a case of theft was investigated by police officers of the Heraklion Security Sub-Directorate, for which a case was filed against two citizens. In particular, as emerged from the police investigation and preliminary investigation and after the proper utilization of information from the Heraklion Security Directorate, the two nationals, on July 16 and 17, had removed from a local company two car audio systems, six catalytic converters, seventy batteries, a generator battery, 140 liters of oil and used car parts, the total monetary value of which exceeds 10,000 euros.
By police officers of the Immediate Action Department of Heraklion, a search was carried out in a warehouse owned by one of the citizens, where part of the removed items were found and confiscated and given to the victim. In addition, the two nationals were arrested for the case-by-case offenses of disobedience and weapons legislation. The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Security Directorate of Heraklion.
