“The measure of compulsory vaccination for our fellow citizens, who are over 60 years old, as their main and main goal has their own protection”, said today from Chania the Minister of Interior Makis Voridis, answering a relevant question, on the sidelines of events for the 108th anniversary of the Union of Crete with Greece, where he represented the government.
Mr. Voridis pointed out that 85% of people who are currently hospitalized in the ICU are unvaccinated at this age and also that 95% of coronavirus deaths are unvaccinated at this age and above.
As he characteristically stressed, “a very big effort has been made lately to point out the necessity of vaccination. Vaccination saves lives, saves us from the pandemic. The vast majority of our fellow citizens understood that. We have taken a number of measures and unfortunately, there is still a portion of our fellow citizens who is not convinced. That is where it becomes necessary to take this measure, as a last resort, another measure, in order to be able to achieve the increase of vaccination, which is the critical size in order to save lives “.
