Femicide in Rethymnon: Her husband killed her with a butcher knife – her death was accidental

Akariaios was the death of the 56-year-old who fell victim brutal murder by the 60-year-old her husband, a breeder, on Sunday morning, at their home in the village of Ano Malaki of the Nikiforos Fokas D. E. Unit of the municipality Rethymnon.

The crime was committed at around 10am on Sunday. The unfortunate Georgia, who ran a hair salon in the city of Rethymnon, was reportedly having problems with her husband recently. On the morning of her murder, while the couple were in the kitchen of their home, some discussion took place regarding their differences. An argument ensued. Georgia did not expect the violent attack from her abusive husband. Victim and perpetrator were alone at home. All four of their children (one of whom got married 15 days ago) were absent. There was no way anyone could come to her aid. The unjustly murdered woman made a move but it was too late: Feeling the blade of the knife on her, when the assailant approached her from behind, she raised her hands to her neck for protection. But it was in vain. The knife allegedly passed three or four times in the neck and the woman fell dead where the police found her, in the kitchen area. Face down and with her hands on her neck as mentioned above. It was her desperate attempt to save herself.

THE Coroner Stamatis Belivanis found that the woman had three or four deep wounds from a cutting instrument, more intense in the right, lateral cervical region. The result was to cause rupture of the blood vessels, unstoppable bleeding and instant death.
