The new Kia EV6 GT

Kia is launching the all-new EV6 GT, an all-electric high-performance crossover created for the new era of sustainable mobility. As Kia’s most powerful production car to date, the EV6 GT offers exhilarating performance, premium long-distance capabilities that combine exceptional space with supreme comfort, ultra-fast charging technology and a highly impressive real range for comfortable journeys.

The EV6 GT’s expressive exterior design features a number of sporty touches and aesthetic enhancements that hint at its outstanding performance. Inside, passengers are greeted by a modern and comfortable space that features all the technology the driver and passengers may need, further enhancing safety, connectivity and entertainment at every stage of the journey.

Based on Kia’s advanced Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV6 GT delivers class- and touring-class performance, ensuring a halo status for the reborn Kia. The EV6 GT combines 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h with a range of 424 km and the ability to charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

In addition to dynamic performance, the EV6 GT also offers dynamic ride and handling characteristics that create a feeling of constant contact with the road. High-performance brakes, upgraded steering and performance-tuned suspension dramatically improve control and boost confidence, while the enhanced Drive Mode Select system allows drivers to tailor the driving experience for optimal control in different conditions.

The Kia EV6 GT is now available for order. Its production will start in September and the first deliveries in Europe are planned for the end of 2022.

Muscular body
The design of the EV6 GT provides something different in the crossover segment, with a distinctive, striking body with many high-tech features, as well as levels of performance unprecedented for a Kia electric vehicle (EV). At the heart of the EV6 GT’s styling is Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, which is inspired by the contrasts found in nature and humanity. The ‘Power to Progress’ design philosophy perfectly suits the sporty nature of the GT, combining power and speed with contrasting elements resulting in a truly innovative shape.

The front of the EV6 GT immediately makes a strong visual impression. Kia’s signature ‘Digital Tiger Face’ includes adaptive LED headlights and dynamic turn signals, while the muscular fenders and hood with their sharp lines give the EV6 GT a dynamic look. A new GT-specific front bumper emphasizes the width of the car creating a sense of stability.

The EV6 GT’s aerodynamic profile features a set of bold character lines that add power and clarity, while the strong roofline and steeply raked C-pillars create an elegant crossover silhouette. High performance is evident thanks to the 21-inch alloy wheels, while impressive brake calipers show off the GT’s stopping power. At the rear, a spoiler, bold LED taillights and a unique bumper and diffuser complete the GT transformation.

Driver-focused interior
The interior of the EV6 GT combines sporty style with comfort and practicality. Passengers are greeted by a set of suede-trimmed bucket seats that provide plenty of support during fast driving and comfort over long distances. Metallic GT logos and green details contribute to their modern and high-tech appearance. The interior of the EV6 GT features premium materials, while sporty accents create a dynamic feel.

The dual curved 12.3-inch screens of the infotainment system provide all functions for driving, connectivity and entertainment in absolute clarity. The simple design language of the widescreen and dashboard ensure the interior has a high-tech feel. An ergonomic two-spoke steering wheel includes an exclusive GT Drive Mode selector, allowing drivers to easily access and customize their driving experience.

The interior design benefits from the use of Kia’s specially developed E-GMP platform. Despite the EV6 GT’s compact exterior dimensions, the 2,900mm wheelbase and flat floor result in an interior comparable to that of many mid-size SUVs, ensuring excellent travel capabilities.

The EV6 GT offers a smart and versatile interior configuration and plenty of storage space along with 480 liters (VDA) of boot space with the second row seats in place. With the second row seats folded, the boot capacity increases to 1,260 litres. The car also has a front trunk that provides an additional 20 liters of storage space.

High performance transmission system
The EV6 GT’s high-performance all-electric dual-motor drivetrain is specially designed to deliver an unimaginable driving experience. A front-mounted 160 kW (218 PS) electric motor works in conjunction with a second 270 kW (367 PS) rear-mounted to provide a combined 430 kW (585 PS) of power and 740 Nm of torque. The drive is transferred to all four wheels ensuring optimal dynamic characteristics even in the most difficult conditions.

The power and traction provided by the EV6 GT’s drivetrain ensures instant yet progressive performance. The GT can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 260 km/h. An electronically controlled limited slip differential (e-LSD) ensures superior cornering grip and stability by automatically distributing torque to the wheels with the most traction. A highly responsive braking system enhances the feeling of confidence and security behind the wheel. Front (380mm) and rear (360mm) ventilated disc brakes provide excellent braking performance, while the linear pedal feel adds further confidence.

The EV6 GT’s large 77.4 kWh battery and 800 V fast charging capabilities offer a particularly high range of 424 kilometers and the ability to charge from 10-80% in just 18 minutes. The combination of the car’s sporty performance, long range and ultra-fast charging make the EV6 GT a truly exciting and capable GT.

Alongside the existing Eco, Normal and Sport drive profiles, GT Drive Mode automatically optimizes the electric motors, braking, steering, suspension, e-LSD systems and stability control (ESC) to their most dynamic settings for a extremely exciting driving experience. Drivers can also customize each system to suit their own preferences via My Drive.

The EV6 GT’s steering system has been tuned specifically for dynamic driving by maximizing steering sensitivity for improved and immediate feedback. The GT’s Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) system provides agility and comfort through continuous damping control. Kia’s main priority when tuning the suspension was to deliver a true GT character by combining excellent comfort at high speeds without compromising the enjoyment of fast driving. As a result, the EV6 GT’s ride remains uncompromising at all speeds with the chassis perfectly balanced when decelerating or accelerating.

In Eco and Normal drive modes, body control when cornering and decelerating is excellent, while as speed increases the steering feels heavier. If the driver selects Sport or GT Mode, the body control is tighter and the driving becomes sportier, giving a more exciting feeling. Despite this, Kia’s engineering team has ensured that the ride remains comfortable in whatever driving profile the customer chooses, with GT Mode remaining progressive, safe and stable over long journeys and at high speeds.

While extremely comfortable, the EV6 GT offers the driver ultimate control for truly thrilling experiences. In addition, the driver can disable the car’s ESC system to produce oversteer, while the exclusive Drift Mode sends a higher percentage of power to the rear wheels for enjoyable sideslips.

Ultra-fast fast charging
Thanks to charging at extremely high speeds, the EV6 GT makes it easy to cover long distances thanks to access to a dedicated charging network. Kia’s investment in IONITY, Europe’s integrated high-power charging network, offers drivers a worry-free fast-charging experience. With access to more than 400 charging stations in 24 European countries, with one charging point per 120 km of the European motorway network and with 100% clean energy, drivers can enjoy a reliable and sustainable fast charging process. Kia’s partnership with Digital Charging Solutions (DCS) also gives drivers access to more than 320,000 additional charging points. Users can easily manage invoices and payments for IONITY and DCS providers through the easy-to-use Kia Charge App.

Further enhancing usability, the EV6 GT’s Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging functionality, which is capable of using power from the vehicle’s battery . The V2L mode can provide up to 3.6 kW of power and can, for example, provide power to operate a 55-inch TV and an air conditioner simultaneously for more than 24 hours.
