“At the request of the Greek authorities, NSPA has deployed a record number of aircraft to 20 strategic locations within Greek territory”

The NATO has sent firefighting planes and helicopters to Greece to help the country fight wildfires, the alliance announced Friday.

NATO’s Supply and Support Agency (NSPA) said it is supporting Greece’s firefighting efforts for the 11th consecutive year. “At the request of the Greek authorities, NSPA has deployed a record number of aircraft to 20 strategic locations within Greek territory,” it said.

NATO’s Air Command said the alliance’s air and armed forces were contributing their capabilities to extinguish fires raging in countries across the alliance’s territory, in a show of NATO solidarity.
