Economou for extension of vaccination obligation: We will do what is needed

by

Government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou left open the possibility of extending the mandatory vaccination against coronavirus beyond the health and citizens over 60 years.

He described the government’s decision to make vaccination mandatory for those over 60 “brave” and “responsible” and added that the effort to stop the pandemic continues with the measures in force and with the strengthening of the NSS.

Mr. Economou stressed that Greece is one of the first countries in Europe to implement mandatory vaccinations, a measure that he said is the last resort to increase vaccination coverage.

“We are here now, this way we are moving forward and we are ready at any time to do what we need to do for the pandemic,” he said.

To reduce the time required to administer the booster dose from 6 to 4 months after the second dose, the government spokesman estimated that very soon “possibly within a week” the relevant decisions will be taken.
