The Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece of the 165th Synod Period met yesterday and today, Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 December 2021, under the Presidency of His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Ieronymos.

The D.I.S. initially ratified the Minutes of Authorization.

Following a relevant proposal of the Blessed Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece Mr. Ieronymos and the Decision of the Permanent Holy Synod of November 3, 2021, they were invited during yesterday’s meeting of the Board of Directors. and it was officially announced to the former Theophilestatos Bishops of Neochori Mr. Pavlos and Thavmakos Mr. Iakovos that they were promoted to Titular Metropolitans and who accepted.

Also the Board of Directors:

– Decided, during the current period, the position of the Holy Synod to the media. to be expressed only by the representative of Her Press, His Eminence Metropolitan of Thessaly and Fanariofersala Mr. Timotheos. To this end, it will send a relevant Circular Note to the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Holy Dioceses.
– Approved the proposal of the Synodal Committee on Social Welfare and Welfare for the issuance of a Synodal Circular Note “on the submission of a Report on Expenditures for the Charitable Ministry, in the year 2021, under the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Holy Dioceses of Greece”.
– Approved the appointment of Panosiol. Archimandrite Mr. Angelos Anthopoulou, as Protosyggellos of the Holy Metropolis of Peristeri.
– Decided, during the Divine Liturgy of Christmas, to spread a record in the Holy Temples of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Holy Metropolises of the Church of Greece in favor of the Program for the support of Christian families in Thrace who have a third child.
– He was informed by the Special Synodal Committee on the Academy of Ecclesiastical Arts about the current Exhibition “PICTURES OF ART”, which includes works by artists from all over Greece that refer to the Holy New Martyrs and the Heroes of the Greek Revolution. The Exhibition is open to the public until Sunday, December 5, at the Cultural Center of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.

During the break of today’s Session, His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece Mr. Ieronymos and His Eminence the Synods unveiled the memorial column in honor of the fathers and brothers of the Holy Monastery of Asomaton Petrakis, who participated in the Games.

His Beatitude, in his short address to the Professor of the Holy Monastery, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Thavmakos Mr. Iakovos, referred to the offer of the Monastery to the Church, the Homeland and History, emphasizing that the Monastery has helped our place in every way.

Finally, the D.I.S. dealt with the secondment of clergy, issues of Synodal Committees and Holy Dioceses and current service issues.
