Cabanas in Mantiqueira are an option for those who love glamping or want to test minimalism

Amidst the green that surrounds the entire Serra da Mantiqueira, from the darkest to the lightest tone, lawyer and businessman Marcelo Queiroz, 29, decided to make a romantic proposal to his companion, administrator Lucila Cunha, 30.

On their anniversary, came the request to gather the toothbrushes.

Both are miners and love to travel together. Half the orange likes adventure, the other half likes comfort. Queiroz is a backpacker, while Cunha, urban and detail-oriented, likes to stay in good hotels.

Due to the opposing profiles, it was a challenge to find a place that would unite the spirit of both – the couple ended up seduced by the profile of Nomad Place on Instagram, a cabin rental agency in São Bento do Sapucaí.

The place, which offers three types of accommodation, is located on a very steep terrain, which provides a beautiful view of the mountains, at an altitude of 1,670 meters.

The marriage proposal was on the exact day they completed four years of long-distance relationship. In order to surprise his beloved, Queiroz asked the hotel staff for help and set up a decoration with rose petals and candles.

“The day started with a delicious and complete breakfast”, recalls Cunha.

On the Nomad Place menu, it is possible to order in the morning a basket with homemade cake, cheese bread and fruit, among other options — prices range from R$98 to R$130 for two people.

Queiroz and Cunha stayed in the Domo Geodesico cabin, from where you have the best view of the Mantiqueira mountain range.

If you are going to stay in the domes, a warning: it is essential to be intimate with the person who goes with you. The bathroom, there, does not have a door — integrated environments are high in the architecture.

Cunha, for example, confesses that he had to ask the groom to leave the cabin at some points during his stay.

It’s worth checking the lunar calendar before traveling to Nomad Place — the full moon is always a charm on trips for two. The couple took advantage of the evening glow to roast some marshmallows over the fire.

In the rain, the internet fluctuates. And Nomad Place has no TV.

The agency’s proposal is for guests to disconnect from the urban world to connect with nature. By the way, here’s another suggestion: be smart and go to bed early, because the glare of the day ends up accelerating the awakening in the cabin without curtains.

At night, you can watch the sky full of stars and even see a small neighborhood called Luminosa, in the middle of the mountains.

Accommodation at Nomad Place also includes a whirlpool, wood burning fireplace, kitchen equipped with gas cooktop and electric oven, and parilla.

At Nomad’s mini emporium, with products from the region, you can buy wines, craft beers, cheeses, jams, coffee, olive oils, charcoal and water. Groceries for a good barbecue, however, should be taken from home.

A fun walk in the hotel area is the trail, which takes between 20 and 30 minutes to walk, and even has a small waterfall. Another option is to drive an ATV (R$ 200 reais/hour and R$ 300/two hours, with an appointment).

By the way, Lucilla accepted Marcelo’s request. The wedding is scheduled for October 1st.
