Sad images of malnourished cows from the area of Thesprotia. According to Katrina Tsantali, founder of the charity “A Little Shelter”, the herd lives in dire conditions and is fed every 15 days to barely survive and mate.

The author posted on Instagram a photo of the malnourished animals in Zervohori and notes that since last Friday she has been waiting for the Police, the Region and the municipality of the area to intervene, as required by law, so that the unfortunate animals can leave there and to be taken to a place she has found herself, so that they can be saved.

She revealed in her post that she has already filed a lawsuit against the owner of the animals, because he leaves them in a miserable condition, while he also denounced the indifference of the authorities.

“The response of the police (since Monday when our lawyer has filed a lawsuit against the owner before the Igoumenitsa Prosecutor’s Office) is that they can only act with a veterinarian from the Region. And the head of the municipality’s veterinary service, after daily communication with Mr. . Kassandrinos, he is making fun of us, while he has already informed the breeder. So far, the District veterinarian has not yet checked any of the depicted cows. The police still find no reason to go there, even though there is a pending case against the breeder. Specialist in cattle, he informed me by seeing these pictures that these animals eat as little as once every 15 days to keep themselves alive (as long as they can) and to be able to mate. To give birth to calves that are sold for meat. Abuse, extreme torture but … that goes into the pocket is good! If the veterinary service, makes a conclusion that the illustrated cows are fine to their health, an additional lawsuit will be filed against the head of the veterinary service of the prefecture of Thesprotia for breach of official duty. We have already found space for the animals to be accommodated and receive the treatment they need. All we want is for the law to be implemented so we can protect them before it’s too late (for all),” notes in her post.
