Two foreign pickpockets fell into the hands of police officers of the Property Crimes Prosecution Department of the Attica Security Directorate, who were patrolling the archaeological sites as part of a special action to prevent theft and other criminal acts against tourists, the day before yesterday at the Pillars of Olympian Zeus, while allegedly stealing a tourist’s wallet.
In particular, the defendants were spotted opposite the archaeological site approaching a group of tourists and removing the wallet from the backpack of one of them. Immediately the police stopped them and arrested them.
Among other things, the removed wallet with its full contents (170 euros and personal documents of the victims), 2 mobile phones and a small amount of money were found in their possession and confiscated.
The arrested persons, with the case filed against them, were taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens, while the investigation into their participation in other similar criminal acts continues.
