State aid for electricity bills will rise to 2 billion euros for September, as Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said yesterday
The amount of subsidies for electricity consumption for the next month (September) is to be announced today Tuesday (August 23) at 9:30 in the morningthe Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas.
The subsidy per megawatt hour (as well as the total amount of the aid) is expected to be significantly increased compared to August, in order to offset to some extent the increase in electricity tariffs announced at the weekend by suppliers.
Meanwhile, as the Minister of Finance stated Christos Staikouras speaking on the radio of Real FM 97.7 the state aid for September, in order to strengthen households and businesses, in terms of electricity bills, will rise to 2 billion euros.
It is recalled that a new high record for the price of electricity was set in the morning market of the Stock Exchange, while corresponding prices are set in most European markets.
Specifically, the stock market price of electricity in Greece today stands at 616.38 euros per megawatt hour, while the maximum is 794.95 euros. Demand is mainly covered (46.2%) by natural gas plants, followed by lignite (22.7%), renewable sources (15.4%), hydropower (5.6%) and imports (3.9% ). The load due to low temperatures is expected to be reduced (323 gigawatt hours compared to 351 today).
More than 600 euros per megawatt hour today Tuesday is the price in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland where the maximum price is recorded (624 euros per megawatt hour). The price of natural gas yesterday on the Stock Exchange of the Netherlands jumped 18% compared to the day before yesterday and reached over 290 euros per megawatt hour.
