Anna Mani: The Google Doodle for the Indian Meteorologist

Indian physicist and meteorologist Anna Mani (Anna Mani) is honored by Google with today’s Google. She was one of the first scientists of her country. Her research work has helped India make accurate weather forecasts, laying the foundation for harnessing renewable energy sources.

He was born on this day in 1918 and grew up in the state of Travancore, where Kerala is today. A bibliophile since childhood, by the time she was 12 she had read almost every book the public library had.

After school she studied at Women’s Christian College, she got a bachelor of science degree in physics and chemistry. He won a research fellowship at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Between 1942 and 1945, she made five scientific publications, completed her doctorate, and began a graduate program at Imperial College in London, where she specialized in meteorological instruments.

Returning to India, he worked in the Meteorological Service and helped shape and design meteorological instruments. She excelled in this male-dominated field and succeeded by 1953 in becoming head of department. Under her leadership, over 100 meteorological instruments were designed and built.

Mani was an advocate of alternative energy sources. During the 1950s, he established a network of stations to monitor solar radiation and published several papers on sustainable energy measurement.

She became Deputy Director General of the Indian Meteorological Department and held key positions in the United Nations World Meteorological Organization.

In 1987 she won the INSA KR Ramanathan Medal for her contribution to science.
