The girl, accompanied by her father, entered the sea, took a dive and, under unclear circumstances, drowned.

The authorities proceeded to arrest the father of the six-year-old girl who drowned yesterday afternoon on the beach of Kalamaki in Corinthia.

As announced by the port, he was arrested for violation of article 306 of the Criminal Code (exposure to danger).

The girl, accompanied by her father, entered the sea, took a dive and, under unclear circumstances, drowned.

Immediately an ambulance rushed to the scene with two rescuers, who did everything possible to bring him back to life.

They then took the child to Corinth Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The Coast Guard’s statement on the tragic incident in detail:

A 6-year-old foreign girl was found unconscious at noon yesterday on the beach of Kalamaki in the Saronic Gulf of Isthmia.

The above was found by an underwater fisherman, who initially provided her with first aid, while the 6-year-old was then transported by an EKAB ambulance to the General Hospital of Corinth, where she was pronounced dead.

From the 2nd Port Department of Isthmias of the Port Authority of Corinth, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, an autopsy was ordered, while the father was arrested for violation of article 306 of the Criminal Code.
