The declaration of a Civil Protection Emergency of the Municipality of Eordaia, PE Kozani decided the General Secretary of Civil Protection Vassilios Papageorgiou, for dealing with emergencies and managing the problems arising from the severe storm that hit the area on Monday night.
The state of emergency was requested from the first moment by mayor of Eordaia Panagiotis Plakentas in order without delay to allocate equipment and human resources to help those affected and at the same time to provide compensation to residents and professionals whose homes and shops were flooded. It should be noted that the area experienced an unprecedented phenomenon where 77 millimeters of rain fell within 50 minutes, flooding houses and underground shops, while crops were also destroyed by overflowing irrigation canals.
This proclamation will be valid for six months, that is until February 22, 2023.
