Today, Thursday August 25, the meeting of the Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece (DIS), under the presidency of the Archbishop of Athens Hieronymos for the month of August, was concluded.
In detail, the BIS decided:
- He was informed about the Letter of A.Th. His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew, regarding his upcoming visit to the Holy Metropolises of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos and Maroneia and Komotini.
- Decided to send the following Circulars to the Christ-eponymous Crew of the Church of Greece:
a) On the protection of human life and the avoidance of abortion, in order to be read in the Holy Temples on the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin (8-9-2022) and
b) Regarding the completion of one hundred years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe, in order to be read in the Holy Temples on Sunday, September 11, 2022, when the memory of the Holy New Martyrs of Asia Minor (Chrysostomos of Smyrna, etc.) is commemorated.
- Approved the final List of Clergy elected to the High Priesthood.
- He renewed the term of His Eminence Metropolitan of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, Mr. Nikolaos, as President of the Synodal Committee on Bioethics and approved his proposal for the appointment of the other members of the Committee.
- He studied the proposals submitted by the Reverend High Priests following this relevant Circular regarding the recent legislative regulations concerning the regularization of the organizational positions of the 8,311 serving Priests and all related issues.
- Finally, he approved secondments of Clergy, dealt with issues of Synodal Committees, the Ecclesiastical Central Financial Service, Holy Metropolises and with current service issues.
The Holy Synod on the occasion of the action of the so-called “Church of all Nations” in Thessaloniki, which was aired by the M.M.E. and of the supposed “exorcisms” he again informs the believers, as he has done in the past, that “it is about an autonomous neo-Pentecostal organization, which carries out ceremonies in central parts of big cities to impress and attract people. He draws the attention of the members of the Orthodox Church to avoid any participation in its ceremonies”.
