Mourning in Larissa for the death of the 19-year-old first-year naval cadet

All possibilities for her death 19-year-old Thalia, of the midshipman who died at Naples, authorities are investigating. The death of the first-year naval cadet has spread mourning in the hometown of Larissa.

There are theories that she was sick with coronavirus while she had tested negative, and her body was weakened, with the result that any infection or poisoning would have had a decisive consequence on her health. The three-day period 18-21 August that the two ships – the General Support Ship “Prometheus” on which the unfortunate Thalia was on board and the frigate “Kanaris” with the rest of the sea cadets – had docked in Tunisia as part of the summer training trip has come under the microscope. and specifically in the port of Lagoulet. It is therefore being investigated whether during any exit from the ships in those days, the unfortunate Thalia ate or drank something that caused her poisoning. And this despite the strict instructions given to seamen and ship crews to be very careful about what they consume in these countries. It is characteristic that in their instructions it is emphasized that even their teeth should only be washed with bottled water!

She had been given antipyretics and antibiotics, but the symptoms were severe and her condition was not improving. She was taken to a hospital in Naples, where she developed a hemorrhagic rash and developed septicemia, with a rapid deterioration of her health and admission to the ICU. Greek doctors arrived in Naples but could not save her.

Two of the Naval Cadet School students participating in the summer sailing training have a low-grade fever and stomach ache. As a precaution, they have been transferred for treatment to a hospital in Naples where the 19-year-old was also. Their symptoms point to poisoning, however competent sources clarified that his condition is not related to that of the girl.

“We were told about a rash on the leg and a fever”

The brother of the unfortunate Thalia spoke to Mega about the tragedy, mentioning what her family knew about the development of his sister’s health.

“The first phone call we had was from the doctor. That she is not well, we didn’t hear anything from her,” said the brother of the unfortunate girl, noting that “the doctor had told us that she has developed a rash on her leg, she has a little fever but controlled and he feels fatigue in his knees.”

“They took us yesterday (the day before yesterday) to tell us that she was intubated and our parents went there to go and support her there,” he stressed about the progress of the 19-year-old’s health.

“Every time they stopped we talked, for 40 days he was gone. It was last week. We were waiting for her how and how” he added.

“She was always smiling, optimistic, courageous, never complained. He gave and second time panhellenic to join the navy. It was her dream since she was a child,” she concluded, talking about the missing 19-year-old girl.

Forensic tests are expected to shed light on the cause of her death. According to information from ThessToday, today the autopsy will be performed on the body of the unfortunate girl.
