“Open Breweries” throughout the country on the two days of September 10 and 11

A special taste and travel experience will be available to beer lovers all over Greece, participating in the “Open Breweries” action, on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September 2022.

“Open Breweries” is an initiative of the Hellenic Union of Brewers, which was carried out with great success for two consecutive years, in 2018 and 2019. After 2 years of absence, due to the restrictive measures imposed on the Greek territory during the pandemic, the favorite event of beer lovers and beyond is back in full swing, once again allowing breweries to open to the public.

Many of the older and better known breweriesbut also new, smaller breweriesacross the country, offering a wide range of beers from all categories.

The members of the Hellenic Brewers Association open the doors of their breweries offering tours, tasting experiences, as well as a series of tastings of many different types of beer on their premises, welcoming the public to share their common love of beer together. Entry to the breweries and participation in the activities is free.

“Open Breweries” give the public the opportunity to visit some of the country’s most important breweries and microbreweries. By visiting the breweries, consumers have the opportunity to get to know the beer, its characteristics and history, to become more familiar with the stages of the production process, to learn about the raw materials used in production, to talk to the people who are behind the production of the products and especially to try different types of beer.

The EEZ member breweries participating in the action for 2022 are as follows:

• Pinio Brewery IKE,
• Chios Brewery IKE,
• Corinthian Brewery SA,
• Cretan Breweries -Zidianakis SA,
• Cretan Brewery SA,
• Kavala Microbrewery,
• Cyclades microbrewery in Tinos,
• Local streets beer microbrewery,
• Mykonos AEBE Microbrewery,
• Septem OE Microbrewery,
• Microbrewery of Serres and Northern Greece SA,
• Olympic Brewery SA and
• Model Collaborative Nanobrewery OE.

As part of the action, events will be held in the breweries such as: Tour of the production areas of the participating breweries, guided tasting of different types of beer, to let visitors know how each beer is tasted, presentation of the history of beer, introduction to the brewers and direct communication with them, taste testing of new and well-known market labels, as well as fresh beer, directly from the brewer’s cauldron.

Entry to the cooperating breweries on the two days of September 10 & 11 will be free, while for some activities, pre-registration is requested and/or a priority order is observed, due to limited places. It is recommended that the visitor contact directly the brewery they are going to visit, to be informed about the full program, availability and opening hours.
