It is a plan with hundreds of projects that will change the face of the city in the coming years, according to what the Minister of State said
A multi-level development plan of the government for the metropolitan complex of Thessaloniki and the regional unity as a whole, with projects worth hundreds of millions of euros, from public and private investments, which will change the face of the city in the coming years, will be presented by the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the meetings with representatives of local bodies that he will have tomorrow, ahead of the 86th TIF, as the Minister of State said Akis Schertsos after the meeting he had with the mayor Konstantinos Zerva.
“The decision of the government and the prime minister is for Thessaloniki to be a human city, a city of extroversion, a city worth living, working, visiting, we are on an excellent path and we will all work in this direction”, stressed the deputy minister of Macedonia and Thrace Stavros Kalafatiswho attended the meeting.
“We are happy that every year the city is moving forward, the city is counting successes, the city is facing new challenges, most of which it manages and succeeds, but still we are still working on issues related to the city’s infrastructure, the completion of the Metro, the issues concerning the OASTH, the traffic, the policing, the traffic wardens that the city needs,” said the mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, and continued: “On the other hand, the rest of the infrastructure. The city needs more renovations, green areas. We presented to the ministers exactly this plan that we have. Another very important issue for us is the fastest possible implementation of the program from the Recovery fund. At the same time, we saw the successes that our city has in the field of extroversion, the promotion of , in the field of traffic, recognition, something that experienced this summer, is experiencing this period, and the issues concerning the choice of our city as a headquarters for many companies, international houses, in the field of IT, technology. We want Thessaloniki to be attractive 12 months a year, spread throughout the service sector and not just tourism, and I really find that day by day, year by year, Thessaloniki is changing, Thessaloniki has an agenda that is really being implemented” .
During his stay in Thessaloniki, Mr. Skertsos emphasized mainly the visits to social services.
The aim of the government is to provide a net of protection, safety and security to the citizens
“The goal of the government is to offer a net of protection, safety, security to the citizens in this very difficult time we are going through and at the same time to provide new services”, said the Minister of State.
At the Evosmos Health Center
Mr. Skertsos visited the Evosmos Health Center and noted the following: “The investment in primary health care is a bet for the funds of the Recovery Fund that will be used in the immediate future for the modernization of 47 Health Centers throughout northern Greece, so that soon to present an image and offer services corresponding to those offered in this model Health Center in the Evosmos area. But we don’t stop here. Thessaloniki is already leading the way in the registration of citizens to the new institution of the personal doctor with 250,000 of its residents having already registered. The new institution of the personal doctor is offered free of charge and from October will be the personal health advisor for every citizen, to guide and support them proactively in every health problem they face. We are even taking advantage of the experience of vaccination, so that citizens who sign up for the personal doctor’s service can book an appointment through the platform without hassle and queuing.”
At KEPA Pylis Axios
Mr. Skertsos visited the KEPA Pylis Axios, where he emphasized that the government attaches great importance to the independent living of people with disabilities and the continuous improvement of the services provided to them and their families and added: “Greece for the first time has a national strategy for the disabled that implements important interventions such as the disability card, the personal assistant, the simplification and digitization of procedures for certification, approval and diagnosis of benefits to people with disabilities. The complete modernization of KEPA facilities is part of the National Action Plan for People with Disabilities. In this direction, the tender procedures have already started for the creation of new KEPA infrastructures, like this model space at the Axios Gate in Thessaloniki, and in Attica, at the facilities of the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Faliro, with a height of 1, 2 million euros.
A few months ago, the first Regulation on KEPAs was adopted, through which the obligation to review thousands of insured persons for irreversible diseases was abolished. With the adoption of the Regulation, all citizens with irreversible diseases, regardless of whether they are primary or secondary, secure their disability rate forever. Until now this only concerned the primary irreversible condition, while those with an amputation or other irreversible condition as a secondary condition had to go through committees again and again, at regular intervals, causing enormous suffering.”
In the 87th elementary school
The Minister of State visited the 87th primary school and said that it is one of the 286 primary and 102 kindergartens that are included in the new all-day schools and will operate in the Prefecture of Thessaloniki with extended hours until 5.30 in the afternoon. “It is a new, innovative pilot policy that comes to upgrade the public school and support working parents and offer additional teaching hours to students with new student groups, but also study time in school. Investing in good public school is a priority of government,” he noted.
