A competition for civil servants is coming to cover staff positions – Terms and conditions

In the first application, a total of 350 positions will be filled, of which 175 are addressed to employees – graduates of the ESSDA, 140 to employees serving in the bodies of the general government and 35 from students of the ESSDA.

Public administration officials will be trained after a demanding and innovative selection process, in order to cover, through three new specializations, key positions of the staff state.

This is the special certification program entitled “Training of Public Servants for inclusion in the P.E. Branch”. of Staff”, presented by the Minister of the Interior Makis Voridis and the president of the National Center for Public Administration and Self-Government, Paraskevi Dramalioti.

The purpose of the program is graduates of the National School of Public Administration and Self-Government (ESDDA) and other public sector officials, who meet specific criteria, to prepare properly to claim predetermined positions of the new branch “PE Staff Officers” in the presidency of the government and in the ministries. The new specialties are those of Lawyers, Public Policy Analysts and Digital Policy Analysts, with additional financial benefits. The legal experts will assist in the drafting of legally sound regulatory texts (laws, decrees, circulars, etc.). Public policy analysts will be trained, among other things, in the use of quantitative and qualitative data, useful for sound and reasoned public policies. Digital policy analysts will be specialized in artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

On first application, a total of 350 positions will be filled, of which 175 are addressed to employees – graduates of ESSDA, 140 to employees serving in general government agencies and 35 to students of ESSDA. To participate in the exam is required four years of experience in administrative positions and excellent knowledge of the English language.

The exams for admission to the education program will be held for the first time in Greece remotely using artificial intelligence tools, which, as Mr. Voridis assured, ensure the integrity of the process. These modern technological tools are able to detect even the presence of a mobile phone in the venue where each candidate will be asked to answer 100 multiple choice questions online.

The applications to participate in the examinations are submitted to the electronic platform located on the EKDDA website until September 14. The exams will take place in the second fortnight of October. The program has a three-month duration during which Greek academics and experts of international standing will teach. It is completed at the end of February 2023 and the holders of the relevant certificate are expected to fill the specific positions next month.

The program and the introductory written test were designed by the EKDDA in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Human Resources Public Sector of the Ministry of the Interior with the support and expertise of DG REFORM of the European Commission, Expertise France and the French National Institute of Public Administration (Institut National du Service Public -INSP, formerly École National d’Administration-ENA).
