They are making their first appearance today University Protection Teams (UPPI) in its facilities EKPA in campus. As reported by police sources, in cooperation with the rector’s authorities of EKPA, the patrols will begin with the aim of protecting the infrastructure on the outside of the campus as well as in places where there is delinquency.
The same sources said that the police are acting methodically and efficiently and everything will develop according to a specific plan.
It should be noted that the Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos also stated that the OPPI have been present since the last Friday at the disposal of the four university institutions (NTEA, NTUA, Athens University of Economics and Business and AUTH) and already, the team leaders have visited the university premises and are working closely with the provost authorities on what their responsibilities will be once they take office, based on the universities’ security plans.
At the AUTH, it is noted that special gates (turnstiles) have already been placed in two places, which are guarded by the police while two MAT platoons are on a permanent basis inside the university premises where they will remain until the construction of the library is completed.
