It will be a beautiful, magical Sunday that at the end of it, thousands of spectators and hundreds of participants will leave burdened by selfies and impressions but relieved from the worries of our current lives, even if only for a while.
A fiesta of colors, sounds, music, tastes and history is promised for Sunday by the mayor of Alimos Andreas Kondylis and Nikos Mastorakis, who are organizing the biggest classic car celebration in Greece, with 20,000 visitors during the 6 hours it lasts!
“This, the third year, we changed a lot, we added a lot but we didn’t take anything away from the magic of the most beautiful classic cars” says Nikos Mastorakis who, with his “Rally Antika”, in 1966, for the first time brought out of obscurity the pre-war “hooligans” and he himself was, later, a founding member of FILPA.
“In previous years, we “grouped” the cars. This year, however, the visitor next to a beastly Transam will discover a wonderful Fiat 500, and further on, a 1928 Citroen will hang out with a much more modern Ferrari, while near the sea they will also “rest”… future classics!
So our visitors (mostly families) will be able to spend hours admiring some 130 rare cars that still… drive wonderfully.
All this, of course, with the cooperation of our friendly clubs, such as SISPA, ORKA, ELKE, SDIO, the Fiat 500 Club and also FILPA, together with a bunch of private individuals who for decades maintain and lovingly preserve their four-wheeled masterpieces. Revolutionary, I believe, is the Bazaar section with rare cars that… are sold on the spot!
Paris Iliadis responded to the first invitation, bringing from his exhibition an expensive bouquet of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porches, Bentleys and four legendary American classics.”
Mayor Andreas Kondylis, who received the “baptism” of the classics with an excellent Rolls Royce Silver Spirit 1975, which was assembled and “revived” by the municipality of Alimos, added: “In this great spectacle, we have two unique black Corvettes and a fiery red Stingray from the collector friend James Heard, the 1925 Ford of Dimitris Avramopoulos will also return, and the new generations will see for the first time a 1961 Greek-made Viamax bus from the collector friend Haris Lazaropoulos as well as a second one, the legendary Setra of 1962 by the collector friend Yiannis Makris. Of course, we also have the popular KIT, the exact replica of the legendary Transam from the 1982 “Asphalt Knight” series, and many historical military vehicles.
Amidst this chaotic spectrum of classic cars, which this year puts more emphasis on post-war masterpieces, there is also entertainment, 60s and 70s music, a “cotton wool” juggler-artisan from Crete, dozens of flags waving in the Alimiotic breeze, two “gelaterias” with ice creams, fresh popcorn, granitas, golden balloons.
And a small crowd of photographers and cameramen who will be running to catch colorful snapshots of all the cars, because from Monday and for two days, everyone will be able to vote (on Facebook) for the most popular car of the event, with a tempting first prize.
It will be a beautiful, magical Sunday that at the end of it, thousands of spectators and hundreds of participants will leave burdened by selfies and impressions, but relieved from the worries of our current lives, if only for a while.”
More than 130 classic cars, on the promenade of Alimos, Sunday 11/9 from 2:00 in the afternoon until 7:30.
Entry is free.
Entries continue until Saturday 9/9 and information about ACCS 3 can be found on Facebook, Instagram and alimosevents@gmail. com
