by

University Street is closed.

The student rally against the university police began in the center of Athens.

Panepistimiou, Stadiou and Amalias streets are closed while the march heads towards the Parliament.

The Student Associations of Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Sociology, Turkish and Modern Asian Studies, EKPA Medicine, Pantheon, Architecture, Surveyors NTUA, Mechanical Engineering PADA, ASPAITE will participate in the rally.

In the joint statement issued by the student associations, they state:

“The ND government continues its all-out attack on the public university and student unions. The implementation of the Kerameos-Chrysochoidis law continues on the part of the ministry, as a few days ago we saw OPPI -that is, the new special body of the university police- accompanied by MAT and OPKE, being placed around the perimeters of the EKPA and NTUA institutions. while at the same time MAT platoons have camped inside the AUTH in the last months. The students, through our student associations, mobilized immediately and blocked the entrance of the university police with gatherings at the gates of our institutions.

The ND government, at a time when everything is becoming more expensive, rents are rising rapidly and our livelihood is constantly becoming more difficult, chooses to try to suppress the student movement and its struggles. We, for our part, make it clear to them that their plans will not pass, as we have already proven by not allowing the university police into our universities. We will fight for free universities, without police, we will defend our democratic rights”
