Evia: The unknown beaches for the “last bath” of 2022

They fill up from the early hours of Saturday morning the beaches of Evia, as according to meteorologists the mini heat wave will also affect our island with the temperature reaching 38 degrees in some areas.

The baths in September have always been the best baths because in the areas of Evia the waters are crystal clear and very warm. The first indications show that the beaches of the Prefecture will be flooded with people today, especially the beaches that were inaccessible in the summer due to the number of people.

evima.gr suggests unorganized beaches, which are usually even more beautiful, as their natural beauty remains unchanged by human interventions.

Zarakes (Fryniakos)

Very beautiful scenery, with an almost exotic character, which is due to the wide, white and sandy beach, which forms a nose entering into the blue-green sea. The rocks surrounding it also look like crab claws.

Strong winds hit the area furiously (that’s why it is also known as “Phryniakos”), raising big waves. Which eventually caused human intervention, resulting in the creation of a breakwater, which made the landscape even more interesting, offering waters that are (almost) always calm. Here you will also find umbrellas, sunbeds, as well as a coffee bar.

Heromylos beach is located in South Evia, just 5 kilometers from the village of Agioi Apostoloi, facing the Aegean and is one of the most beautiful and picturesque beaches of Evia, which many describe as exotic due to the special color of its waters. In most of its part the beach has fine pebbles while on its south side it has coarse sand ideal for children.

Turmeric

The first of the triptych Armirihi-Limniona-Tsakaios of Mesochori. It is a small, sweet beach, with turquoise waters and two sea caves at the end (they also have shade), which you reach by walking through the shallows. It is protected from the wind and has white, fine pebbles.

The water deepens sharply as soon as you enter, and umbrellas and the like must be taken with you. You will find Greek cuisine in a picturesque tavern as well as a cute cafe-bar.

Agios Dimitrios Beach (Schinodavlia)

A fairytale beach almost below the village of the same name, which you reach by going down and turning down a steep dirt road. It is crossed by the small river that forms the stream of Porphyra as it makes its last steps before emptying into the sea, where it also forms a pond. Next to it, in addition, a cave with stalactites is erected.

Green trees on the banks of the stream and a small bridge over the river. Blue, transparent waters, white, fine pebbles. Behind the stream, in fact, there is also a cafe-bar-tavern, which serves the essentials. In the summer, many people come with tents or for their daily swim. May, September, October, maybe even early June, the beach is even lonely.

Chiliados Beach – Central Evia

Once a base for pirates, Chiliadou is today a base for free campers and nudists. And not unfair. It is located in central Evia, at the foot of Mount Dirfi, on the side facing the crystal clear waters of the Aegean. It is a flat beach with sand and pebbles. It has a north orientation, so it is often exposed to strong winds. Its name comes from the homonymous church (Our Lady of the Thousand) which is located nearby. In the summer it is full of people and groups. Nudists prefer its northern end, while more athletic types prefer climbing the rocks around it.
